We are so excited!
I went through all of the donations we have picked up for the orphanage. We have compiled A LOT of things for the kids, we have dedicated 1 suitcase for it all. I'm not sure if it will all fit though, we shall see.
Some tips we have heard and been using so far or wish we had used:
- We heard to pack light, and to carry on only. So we both are taking 2 bags. I think I will be able to make it work.
- I wish we would have tried to go to Moscow a day early on our day out. I didn't even think to ask the travel agent when he gave our itinerary. Instead we fly on Monday and don't check into a hotel until Wed night. Ikes! The couple we are going with did it the smart way and traveled a day early. I guess I was too excited, or didn't really think of it when Victor (our agent) gave me our plans. Oh well! We, or I should say RICH, will sleep on the plane. I have a hard time.
- I am buying a great travel pillow, it looks so comfy!
- We went out and bought a net book so we have a little computer with us.
- We are taking a disposable camera with us for the caretakers to take pics of him if they can.
So 1 week and counting until our Russia adventure!!!
Jenny
I tried to post a comment last night but I guess it didn't go through. Two other ideas that I thought were great:
ReplyDeleteA photo book with pictures of you and Rich to leave with your little one.
Note cards for the caregivers to write wishes/notes/memories on for your little one once their older.
Also, I responded to your question re: what to wear on the plane on my blog...just wanted to make sure you saw it. We'll also be in Moscow while you're there, but we're staying in an apartment by the Embassy. If you're going to be over that way at all, let us know.
Thanks Jen! We are working on a photo album didn't think about the notecards. What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteNo I hadn't seen that post, I went and looked. Thanks much, I also just want to be comfortable since we are traveling so much!
Nice, will you be on your 10 day wait? The only day we are really in Moscow is the Sat coming back. We are staying at the Grand Hotel Moscow and will just sightsee that day or sleep! :) Is the embassy by the hotels and Kremlin and stuff? Sorry I have no idea yet! :)
I don't think the Embassy and the Kremlin are very close...but the Marriott Grand is just a short walk to Red Square/Kremlin, so you'll be in good shape for sightseeing.
ReplyDeleteI'd also suggest stopping for snacks or something on the way to the Marriott, if you can. Food in the hotel is pretty pricey!
We're going back for court this trip, then hope to go back for our third trip mid-August.
I'm so excited for you and can't wait hear all about your little one and trip. Sorry, I feel like I'm writing novels in your comments :).
Thanks that is a good tip, I had heard hotel is expensive also!
ReplyDeleteOh you have to go back for a 3rd trip?
We get to do in 2, so will be nice. Of course 3rd trip is supposedly 3-6 months. We are hoping for 3! :)
Sorry, I'm confused...I didn't think Russia was waiving the 10-day wait anymore? Or do you mean you're staying in country for the 10-day wait between court and when you get to pick your little one up? We're heading home because that's cheaper than waiting out the 10 days in Russia.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for a short wait for you.
Oh ya we would prob just stay for those 10 days. Sorry for confusion!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't priced it all out yet though so we shall see! :)
